Otterton Mill Cream Tea
We're celebrating the recent news that our cream teas have been placed in the Top 10 in Devon and Cornwall by travel guide publisher DK Travel on the publication of their first ever British regional guide - Top 10 Devon & Cornwall. The recognition comes on the back of similar accolades last year.
Many of our customers treat themselves with one of our cream teas after a vigorous walk, or, for many, it's simply about cheering themselves up with some self indulgent sustenance. We believe that our cream teas are special because of the freshness and flavour that comes from sourcing locally. The flour is milled on site, along with the scones which are produced in our celebrated bakery. The cream and jams are also sourced from within 30 miles of the Mill.
Perhaps the cream tea contributes to the general feeling of wellbeing that we have in Devon and Cornwall! In a YouGov survey commissioned by DK, nearly a quarter (24%) of respondents in the West Country rated their ‘overall happiness in life' as ‘very good', compared to the survey's national average of just 15%. A further 44% rating their ‘overall happiness' as ‘good', making the region the happiest in Great Britain.
"When you look at what Devon and Cornwall have to offer, it's not really surprising that the people who live there are pretty satisfied with life," says DK Travel Publisher Douglas Amrine. "They've got enticing beaches, stunning moorland, great pubs... not to mention fantastic sea-food and, of course, the ubiquitous cream tea! All of which make both counties extremely popular parts of the UK for visitors, but I am sure also contribute to the wellbeing of residents".
For those not lucky enough to live in the West Country, the Top 10 Devon and Cornwall reveals the best the region has to offer to lift the spirits, whether it be soul-stirring views, old-fashioned tranquillity or sustenance of a more bodily kind!
