In November 2009 the Mill was recognised again as one of the "Greenest" businesses in Devon, due to our strong traditions of local sourcing and environmental conservation. The Devon Environmental Business Initiative (DEBI), supported by the Environment Agency, Met Office, Devon County Council and South West Water, has been recognising Devon based businesses with strong environmental practices for almost 20 years. "We are very pleased the Mill was chosen by DEBI in 2009 as one of only 4 finalists in the Food and Farming category, along with great businesses like Rod And Bens and Manna from Devon", said Simon who runs the Mill with wife Caroline. The overall winner of this category was Churston Farm Shop, near Brixham.
The DEBI recognition came on the back of another recent award in the South West's food oscars, the 2009 Taste of the West Food Awards. This time the Mill was awarded a bronze in the "Devon Local Food Retailer" award, with gold and silver going to Dart's Farm and Mooston Meats Farm respectively.
"We are very proud that we continue to be recognised for our strong environmental practices and for continuing the sourcing traditions which were first established by Desna Greenhow when she renovated and opened the Mill as a business in 1977" added Simon.
