The Mill Building And Gallery
The main entrance point is via a door with a two inch step, at the top of a fairly short incline. The path leading up to this door is uneven but is often negotiated by people using wheelchairs.
Once inside the building access is very good for the ground floor. All areas are easy to reach and the shop area has been designed to give plenty of space to move around. Access from the craft shop to the working part of the mill is easy.
The working mill area also backs onto the Jewellery Studio - unfortunately there are steps down into the studio, but Steve can show samples of his work to those interested.
There is no wheelchair access to the main gallery, however, staff in the shop are happy to bring down individual pieces for anyone who is unable to use the stairs.
Restaurant
The restaurant has three seating areas:
The outside terrace area is fully accessible.
The downstairs area is accessed from either the terrace or the courtyard.
The terrace entrance has a slight graduation – the doorway however is narrow. The easier way is via the courtyard entrance, which has a steeper incline up to the entrance but with a much wider door.
Unfortunately the upstairs seating area is not accessible for wheelchair users.
We are more than happy to reserve seating downstairs for people using wheelchairs – please call the restaurant before your visit – 01395 567041.
Devon Food Shop
Our Devon Food Shop has full wheelchair access.
Artist Studios
The pottery is situated next to the working bakery. There is no step at the door and is large enough for a wheelchair to turn around easily. The jewellery is situated in the main mill building and has two entrance points. The first is the doorway coming off the courtyard – there is a large step (about five inches high). The other entrance is via the entrance to the gallery as described above.
Toilets
We have recently upgraded our toilet facilities and now have a toilet with wheelchair access.
