Exhibition: Woodlands

Exhibition: Woodlands

Friday 4th September 2009 – Thursday 8th October 2009

At the changing of the seasons, the gallery hosts a woodland-themed exhibition of work, from the functional to the decorative.

James Verner represents a new generation of English woodworkers.  His contemporary furniture is synonymous with elegance and quality.  We're showing a wonderful selection of James' chairs and tables, including a brand new chair design, which is the latest addition to his portfolio.

In contrast, Nick Hannan's mirrors and tables have a more rustic, chunky feel.  Using mainly English oak, Nick's work is wonderfully tactile and celebrates nature's sensual curves.

Wood sculptor Peter Vernon is showing his ever-popular bird sculptures, hewn in flowing, sleek lines from locally sourced, sustainable hardwoods.  His menagerie includes nuthatches, kingfishers and woodpeckers.

Keith Beaney makes unusual and unique mirrors, framed in bark, leaves and materials foraged from the woods.

A selection of 2D work featuring woodland landscapes will also be on display.
