Workshop: China Restoration

Learn how to repair your broken china with professional restorer Helen Warren. Bring along your own piece to mend in this practical hands-on workshop.  All other materials (such as glue, glaze and so on) are included. 

Helen will start with a discussion on the different types of pottery and porcelain and how to choose the most appropriate method or product to repair each type. Those with previous repairs to their pieces can then dismantle and clean off old adhesives. Appropriate cleaning techniques will be discussed.  Pieces can be re-assembled and Helen will demonstrate the best methods to do this.  Helen will also demonstrate how to fill missing and chipped areas, and will provide some acrylic paints so that you can re-touch any decoration, if necessary.  A hand-out will be provided to explain the techniques used.
