A Celebration of Wild Food

Saturday 2nd April 2011

Our annual fair showcasing wild and foraged foods, and country pursuits. The day includes:

• a foraging workshop with local expert Robin Harford of Eat Weeds
• a wild meat BBQ
• artisan food stalls with Capreolus Fine Foods, Clinton Devon Estates and Tom's Pies
• wine tastings (from a selection of Lyme Bay's wild flower and fruit wines)
• bird box making for children run by students from Bicton College
• plucking and skinning demonstrations
• "have a go" at fly fishing demonstrations with Country Sports South West
• bird encounters with the Devon Birds of Prey Centre
• wildlife advice from the RSPB
• ideas and advice for exploring Devon from the award-winning Treasure Trails
• special lunchtime dishes served in our restaurant from 12pm to 3pm
• specialty breads, including wild garlic & mushroom bread and wild garlic & cheese scones
  

This is always a popular day out for all ages, and entry is free.

Timing:  11am to 4pm.

11am-4pm:  Close Encounters throughout the day with The Devon Bird of Prey Centre

11.15am - 12pm:  Skinning and boning demonstration with John Hayes

11.30am:   Fly fishing demonstration, talk on tackle and history of fly fishing with John Dawson

12pm:   Fly fishing - have a go!

12pm - 2pm:   Game meat BBQ

12.15pm - 1pm:   Game meat cookery demo with Executive Chef Ed

1pm:   Fly fishing demonstration, talk on tackle and history of fly fishing with John Dawson

1.30pm - 3pm:   Fly fishing - have a go!

1.30pm:  Foraging workshop with Robin Harford

2pm - 3pm:   Wild food cookery demo with Executive Chef, Ed using foraged foods and game meat.

4pm:  Finish
