We are remarkably fortunate to have three wonderful men as our millers - Brian Hart, Jerry Tottle and Graham Richardson. All three are volunteers and bring a wealth of experience, skill and enthusiasm to what they do. Not only do they mill the stoneground flour for which we are famous, but they also look after the ancient mill machinery and preserve it in full working order.
The fourth member of the team is Mill employee Graham Smith, or "young" Graham as he is affectionately known. Graham represents the next generation of millers at Otterton, and is currently learning the ancient skills of milling from his colleagues.
Brian spent his working life in agriculture and engineering. Jerry spent many years at sea as an engineer on large ships. Graham worked variously as a print-maker, a taxi-driver and in retail. "Young" Graham trained as an agricultural engineer and now combines milling and site maintenance at Otterton Mill.
You can watch the millers at work on our milling days.
