Otterton Mill is now one of the country's leading roots music venues and hosts dozens of world class acoustic performances each year. Most weeks, usually on Thursday nights, we welcome exceptional musicians from the realms of folk, blues, jazz, country, Americana and the classics. Be warned - the venue is intimate and almost all our concerts sell-out fast. So you will need to book in advance.

In summer we move outside for our famous Summer Courtyard Series. The concerts are held under twinkling lights in our beautiful courtyard and although the capacity is far larger you'll still need to book well ahead.

All events start at 8pm and if you fancy a fantastic meal beforehand our Restaurant is always open from 6pm.

Other Shows
Tickets are also now available for some of our upcoming shows -

4th Jul Bex MarshallBex Marshall: Bex has a quite remarkable voice that has been likened to Janis Joplin and if you couple that with Hendrix style guitar and a real powerful delivery you can imagine the excitement. This is rootsy blues with a dash of bluegrass and a quality that’s already seen her support Hayseed Dixie on a 28 date sell-out tour of Britain.   £7.50
10th Jul John Etheridge with Kit HolmesJohn Etheridge with Kit Holmes: The former Soft Machine member rightly enjoys a huge reputation throughout the jazz world and beyond and has been described by Pat Metheny as "One of the best guitarists in the world”. He spent years touring with Stephane Grappelli and currently divides his time between solo shows and playing as a duo with John Williams. Tonight he welcomes as special guest, fellow guitarist Kit Holmes – described by the Observer as “an absolute delight”.   £10.00
17th Jul Show of HandsShow of Hands: This special concert is part of a day of Mill activities in partnership with the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. Although Steve Knightley has played here regularly and Phil Beer has joined him, and others, on stage, tonight is the first time Show of Hands has officially played here at the Mill. Featuring the great Amanda Sykes on bass this promises to be a really memorable evening. A recording of this concert will be auctioned on the night to raise funds for SPAB.    Sold Out
24th Jul Daniel Smith & T-Bone TaylorDaniel Smith & T-Bone Taylor: With the possible exception of Jools Holland this guy is the finest boogie woogie piano player in the UK. He simply explodes with energy on everything from driving barrelhouse to authentic downhome blues. Tonight we are fortunate that Daniel is playing with another true original, the precociously talented Chicago-blues guitarist T-Bone Taylor.   £8.00
31st Jul Martin StephensonMartin Stephenson: He’s managed his own band, The Daintees, for 25 years; he’s toured as a member of Simple Minds, Hothouse Flowers, Aztec Camera and Prefab Sprout (to name but a few); he’s played in just about every country in the world; he always wears one of James Cagney’s hats (true) but most importantly, Martin is a supremely gifted singer, songwriter, musician and certainly one of the finest performers in the UK.   £9.00
2nd Aug Christene Le DouxChristene Le Doux: From Austin, Texas we welcome a young musician who has a list of impressive credits to her name already. Five great albums, lots of songwriting awards and a whole host of influential admirers. Often compared with Nanci Griffith and the late Eva Cassidy she writes beautiful, heart-warming songs and delivers them with a truly sensual voice that will pull at your heart strings.    £8.00
7th Aug Gordon GiltrapGordon Giltrap: A consummate musician who proves the adage that respect cannot be bought - it must be earned. He’s done the lot – several hit singles, playing alongside Cliff Richard in a West End musical, 25 studio albums, performances with the London Symphony Orchestra, Rick Wakeman and James Taylor…. Gordon always sells-out here so book fast!   £10.00
9th Aug Jennifer CrookJennifer Crook: Jennifer originally built her reputation touring the folk circuit, at that time as an outstanding young harpist. Recently though she’s put the harp into storage, picked up a guitar and developed her considerable songwriting skills. These are showcased on her brilliant new CD featuring such luminaries as Clive Gregson and Amanda Sykes. Playing here with her trio featuring Robert Harbron and Beth Porter.    £8.00
14th Aug Phil LeePhil Lee: Straight from Nashville, Phil Lee is a rip-snortin’ gem - one of country music’s true rebels. A masterful songwriter with a road worn voice and a style somewhere between Bob Dylan and Jerry Lee Lewis – country music with a rock & roll heart. In the States he’s so well respected that Gillian Welch, Allison Moorer, Billy Joe Royal and most of Wilco guested on his last album. One of a kind - put away the good china (and the cutlery) and get ready for a hoot. Phil Lee's in the house.   £9.00
16th Aug Maurice DicksonMaurice Dickson: One of the hardest working musicians on the circuit, Maurice is a great crowd favourite here at the Mill. His thoughtful brand of folk and blues, coupled with his superb stagecraft, always adds up to a tremendously entertaining evening.    £9.00
28th Aug Wizz JonesWizz Jones: A wonderful musician who has played with everyone of note who has ever picked up a folk guitar in this country. Along with Davy Graham and Bert Jansch, he was responsible for the great folk revival in the 1960's and 1970's. A great storyteller, his concerts are always a delight.   £8.00
